Slasher Spotlight: Kenny Hampson

Poor Kenny Hampson. It's New Year's Eve, and the frat boys have a typically cruel prank in the works.

With the assistance of the lovely Alana (Jamie Lee Curtis), Kenny is lured into one of the frat house bedrooms with the promise of sexual bliss. When he discovers that the "girl" lying in bed with him is not Alana, but in fact that of a corpse, it subsequently drives him insane. Fast-foward three years, and the graduating class is hosting a costume-themed train trip celebration. Kenny has escaped from the mental ward, and plans on boarding the train and exacting his revenge.

The main thing distinguishing Hampson from the rest of the slasher personas is the fact that he dons the costumes of his last victims, even mimicking the mannerisms of the characters (Groucho Marx) while stalking his prey.

This makes for an interesting play, as he can freely move about the train, arousing little suspicionIn addition to all this, Lampson moonlights as a female magician's assistant, doing so with such believability, that he not only fools his classmates, but easily fools the viewer as well.

I feel that "Terror Train" is such an underrated slasher movie, beautifully shot and featuring one of the creepiest killers in the genre. This is one of my personal favorites.
